Workshops & Clinics
I enjoy finding opportunities to work with ensembles and/or teachers on a shorter time frame and in a more intimate setting. From in-service teacher training to an extra set of eyes and ears in a rehearsal, it has been a way to assist, enlighten and inspire musicians "in the trenches" where the real work is being done every day - not on the glorified stages of Honor Choirs and Festivals. I consider it a privilege to get to know these teachers and programs and offer support and assistance when needed.
I have recently led clinics and workshops with these fine programs:
|
Vocal Technique & ToneLean the structure and function of the vocal mechanism and how simple exercises and techniques can improve the tone of individual singers and enhance the overall choral sound. I focus on a a free body/free sound approach: Physical warm-up & relaxation, natural breath support, pharyngeal alignment, vowel modification, and listening.

Vocal HealthSleep, hydration, vocal rest, hot tea...
We all know something about caring for our voice. But do you know how to plan a rehearsal that protects your singers? Learn to spot potential stress or unhealthy singing in your choir's sound and in the bodies and on the faces of your people. Let's talk about how the voice works, how we screw it up, and what to do to keep it working. |
Special ProjectsFrom a single rehearsal visit to an extended project, call on me to assist you with special needs and events. I have presented workshops on major choral works from an historical and musical perspective, as well as intensive rehearsal and immersion experiences like Retreats & Festivals. I am especially proud to develop and share my Arts & Spirituality Retreat.
